Vintage Austrian 1980 Puch Maxi Pedal Start Moped Postedby Andy on Jun 4,2010 in Featured |

Vintage Austrian 1980 Puch Pedal Start Maxi Moped This moped has very high sentimental value to me and also has an interesting story to go with it. I personally built this moped piece by piece from the ground up while I lived in Seattle,WA. At that time I was in the Moped Army and had a lot of moped friends from all over the place. Once I moved back to Louisville,KY my moped was still in Seattle and I had no clue how I was going to get it back. Thankfully the Mosquito Fleet (the local moped branch in Seattle) was kind enough to bring it out east while they were making a trip to a moped rally in Kalamazoo,MI. I then with the help of the Bourbon Bandits (Louisville own moped branch) got it from Kalamazoo back to Louisville. At this point the moped was still stock and had no real performance parts aside from some boring out of the stock carburetor, intake and sanding the stock head for more compression. It was going about 35MPH at the time. Eventually I bought some performance parts from Treats HQ in California. I soon after installing all of the performance parts, stopped riding mopeds altogether. 87262606135732550 Vintage Austrian 1980 Puch Maxi Pedal Start MopedSo the moped has been properly drained of fluids and stored. Now I'm looking for it to find a new home and in the hands of someone that will take care of it and appreciate it for the amazing piece of vintage machinery that it is. This moped currently runs but it still needs to be properly tune and jetted (carburetor jet size) but once it has been properly tuned with the performance parts it will go about 50MPH. The moped was originally a maroon/purple color but now with years under it's belt and much weathered it has a very rustic (not rusty) vintage almost "leather" or "root beer" type color. This moped does not currently have a kill-switch to stop the engine once it's running but this isn't a very hard thing to do yourself. There is also no title although Kentucky has no law that requires you to have one. *IMPORTANT* I am looking to sell this Vintage Moped to someone that already knows how to work on vintage pedal start mopeds,is mechanically inclined or is willing to learn how to work on mopeds themselves. I'm looking for a sell as is transaction. I am willing to point the person in the right direction for moped parts purchasing, moped repair info, moped community and more. I am however not looking for someone that will require mechanical assistance from me. This is a wonderful piece of vintage machinery and with the right person, they will definitely enjoy this one of a kind gem. If truly interested, preferred contact is email. This is a Thanks for looking! *IMPORTANT* Performance & Aesthetic Modifications: 70cc K-Star Engine Kit19mm Dellorto Carburetor20mm Intake ManifoldTechno Boss Performance Exhaust PipeLow-Profile TiresLowered Seat and Clubman Style HandlebarsAlso Includes Stock: Carb,Intake,Head & ExhaustLocal Pickup Only!LOUISVILLE,KY 40205 On Jun-04-10 at 13:06:40 PDT,seller added the following information:

Moped gang?

rival moped and scooter gangs! I love it.
mopeds are wacky, though. Have you ever had one? I had a piaggio and, maybe it was just me, but you had to be facing downhill in order to pedal enough for it to start. it was cute, though. It looked like a small motorcycle.
oh my god, how beautiful is this vespa I just accidentally googled?

May 29, 2012 by michael | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

My mopeds electric start does not work unless it is hooked up to a starter. The battery has been charging for over a day and is not charged, however the moped will start with the kickstart. any answers.

    • I recommend getting a new battery that is strong enough to last without having to charge it all the time. I put a VMAX tank battery on my moped and now my battery charger is sitting in my garage getting dusty. It was worth every penny, but if that doesn't work out for you try buying a new battery charger goodluck
